Piano Online Lessons – Why You Must Understand The Difference Between Practice And Playing!

If you are contemplating piano lessons online, downloading the training material is the easy bit – committing to ongoing learning and practice can be the hardest part. Let’s face it, anyone would love to play the piano. The thought of sitting on stage in front of an audience anticipating a classical masterpiece, or your latest pop hit, sends shivers up your spine. The problem is that, while most would love to PLAY the piano, not so many want to actually LEARN the piano, or even PRACTICE the piano. Unfortunately, playing (to any kind of decent standard) can only result from a regular learning and practice regime.

One way to make practice seem not quite so daunting is to look at it from another angle. Consider it a way of accelerating the learning process – in order that you will soon be able to play well.

You need to push yourself. Irregular practice, or just thumping out old tunes you are familiar with will get you there – but very slowly. You need to keep moving along, gaining better technical skills through a proper structured training process. Practice is not the act of repeating songs over and over again – practice is actually venturing into unfamiliar territory. In reality, you should practice what you don’t already know, not what you do know.

Practicing piano should be just like any other project – it needs some planning. If you are expecting to have a 2 hour practice slot, determine beforehand where you aim to be after it. Are you going to try out some new chords, or inversions, for example? Note this down, and make sure you keep practicing these – don’t give up or just go back to your old favorite selections. After you have achieved your goals for the session, you can then reward yourself by indulging in some familiar pieces – safe in the knowledge that you have made progress.

With practice, repetition is vital. When you hit something that is difficult, practice it 3 times a day, or more, until you master it. If you are determined, you will master it. Don’t be put off if a part takes longer to conquer than you thought it would. Some parts of piano online lessons may take you months to truly master – but you will get where you want to go, eventually.

Don’t be frightened of making mistakes when you are practicing. You should not expect to get everything right first time. Remember the difference between PRACTICE and PLAYING. When you are practicing, it’s fine to get it wrong. The idea is that you learn during PRACTICE, so that when you are finally PLAYING, or performing, the piece, you will be getting it right every time.

If you are taking piano online lessons, you have the added advantage that you can practice when it suits you. So if you are conscious that there are others in the house, and still wary of them hearing your mistakes, schedule your practice sessions when you won’t be disturbed (or be disturbing others). Or simply explain to them the difference between practice and playing.

Piano Lessons for Adults Online: Bring Back the FUN

Has it ever crossed your mind to learn how to play the piano? Well I used to think that trying to learn the piano as an adult would be boring, frustrating and just plain pointless. Till I found out that it doesn’t have to be that way. We adults can still learn how to play the piano and have fun doing it.

In a time where learning the piano has lost some of its flare, where piano lessons have become more expensive than weekly groceries and where the thought of doing this just brings pure frustration, I have found that there is a way to bring back that enthusiasm and learn how to play the piano with sheer joy and appreciation.

Many adults would love to learn how to play the piano but they don’t take the first step because it’s too boring, or hard to learn, or just plain frustrating. I completely understand how they feel. But the good news is that there are ways to learn how to play the piano that eliminates all those complaints.

Have you ever considered online piano lessons? Well if you have not, that is the first step you have to take towards finding that lesson that will bring back the fun in learning how to play the piano. Unfortunately, not all the online piano lessons are what you should aim for. So the next step is to find a course that takes an interactive approach to the learning process. This is very important. A lot of the online piano lessons are basically just looking, observing and “trying”. That approach does not yield very good results.

A good course will teach via an interactive approach. This is where you are actively engaged in the learning process. You participate in whatever lessons are being taught. This allows you to feel more engaged and will make you feel as if you are actually around a real piano. Due to this, you will hardly or never find yourself getting bored. Plus there should be many different levels in the lesson which help to also keep it interesting.

As for frustration, this is very common in all levels of pianist. This can occur from not being able to remember songs, being rushed by the lesson (not being able to learn at your own pace), being stuck playing the same tunes over and over again and many more. But for whatever reason it may be, you can find a course that removes all of the causes of frustration and leaves you feeling accomplished.

One that teaches you how to improvise which is to create something in the spur-of-the-moment, to compose which is to create your own music from scratch and to play by ear were you are able to play a song based on what you heard.

If being able to learn and accomplish these abilities does not make you feel less frustrated already, then I don’t know what will. Gladly, The Piano Encyclopedia. presents a course that takes the interactive approach and teaches piano improvisation, composition, playing by ear and most importantly just to play the piano with freedom and you will find the FUN in learning how to play the piano.

Not only it is fun, but The Piano Encyclopedia’s Digital Home-Study Course is known worldwide to be the only piano course in the world – you won’t find another– that teaches students how to compose and improvise music –even if they have never played piano before.

I use it with my own students, so I can tell you that I highly recommend it. Click here to find out more about The Piano Encyclopedia’s online piano course: Digital Home Study Course The Logic Behind Music. Piano Course The Logic Behind Music
